When to follow these steps
If you have successfully followed the registration instructions, but your mobile app is frozen on the “Connecting to Thermostat” popup.
How to fix
Check Your Wi-Fi Network Type (2.4GHz Required)
The Universal Fan Coil thermostat requires a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network connection and will fail to connect if using a 5GHz or mixed network. Most routers can broadcast both as separate networks, so check to see which type your thermostat is attempting to connect to.
a. On your mobile device, open your Wi-Fi settings.
b. Look at the name (SSID) of the network you’re connected to:
If you see two networks, such as
MyNetwork_2.4GHzandMyNetwork_5GHz, connect your thermostat to the 2.4GHz version. If there is only one network name, it may be a mixed(dual-band) network.
2. Adjust your Wi-Fi network
If your router is currently broadcasting only a 5GHz network, a mixed 2.4GHz/5GHz network, or if you’re unsure which type of network is active, it may prevent your thermostat from connecting properly. To resolve this, you’ll need to access your router’s advanced settings to confirm or adjust the Wi-Fi configuration:
a. Open a browser and enter your router’s IP address (often
192.168.0.1or192.168.1.1).b. Log in with your router’s admin credentials (these are often printed on the router itself).
c. Look for settings under Wireless, Wi-Fi Settings, or Advanced Setup.
d. Confirm that 2.4GHz is enabled. If both 2.4GHz and 5GHz are enabled under the same name, consider renaming them separately (e.g.,
HomeWiFi_2GandHomeWiFi_5G) for easier selection during setup.
Note: The exact steps and terminology may vary depending on your router’s brand and model. Please look up your router brand and model for specific step-by-step instructions on adjusting your network settings.
